The Desolation of Smaug: Nothing but Broken Dreams

The Desolation of Smaug: Nothing but Broken Dreams

I walked out of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug about one hour in… how far the Hobbit movies have fallen.  The first three Hobbit movies were epic, with great acting.  The most recent two (The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey) were an utter embarrassment to a once great tale.  The Desolation of Smaug is more like a muppets adventure film than a Lord of the Rings movie.  Why do the new Hobbit movies insist on making silly jokes at the expense of the informed moviegoer?  The most recent Hobbit movies are filled with so much cornballish material specifically made for idiots who get a good laugh at dumb downed humor.  Not for one minute would you see Frodo being used for a handkerchief by a gang of trolls in the original Lord of the Rings movies.

Save your money and don’t waste your time on this broken dream of a movie unless you like dumb laughs at the expense of destroying an epic story.
