The Geek Squad tech support service allows a customer to sign up for 1 year, 2 year and 3 year service plans and receive tech support associated with these plans by chat, phone or at a Geek Squad store. All plans include a one time $99.99 initiation fee. Returning users to the site can access their account by logging in with their Tech Support Member ID.

Please note that the service is in regards to software ONLY and Geek Squad Protection is about hardware. The Geek Squad tech support service allows a customer to claim up to 3 devices under the service terms. Prices are $199.99 (1 year) or $279 (2 year) or $349.99 for a 3 year plan service. The best value by far is the 3 year support plan for $349.99. The service allows the customer to claim and product regardless of where the product was purchase. Even if the customer bought the product at Lowe’s they are still eligible to have it protected under the Geek Squad Tech support plan.

The Geek Squad is a tech support service and can be found in every Best Buy retail store. Once a customer signs up for the service they will receive a “Welcome to Tech Support” email within 24 hours of sign up. The company did experiment with providing Geek Squad services in stores at Office Depot until it was terminated in 2006.
